We would like to inform you of a major change to the road infrastructure in the Rotterdam area: the A24 – Blankenburgverbinding, a new link connecting the A20 motorway (near Vlaardingen) and the A15 motorway (near Rozenburg).
🚛 What do you need to know about the A24?
The A24 is a toll road;
there are no toll barriers, allowing traffic to flow without stopping;
payment can be made online after the journey, or automatic payment can be set up for frequent use;
the route directly connects the A20 (Vlaardingen) with the A15 (Rozenburg);
depending on the specific route and traffic conditions, the new connection can significantly reduce travel time.

For individual payments, the toll can be paid online via the official e-TOL website:

The toll can be paid up to 7 days before the journey or within a maximum of 3 days (72 hours) after passing through the A24, using iDEAL/Wero or a bank card. For fleets that frequently use this route, there is also an automatic payment option available through providers listed on the e-TOL platform.
⏱️ An advantage for transport to Rotterdam
According to official information, the route between Vlaardingen and Rozenburg via the A24 is approximately 12 km long—compared to about 20 km via the previous route—and the estimated travel time (barring traffic jams) drops from around 19 minutes to 12 minutes.
For international transport operations, choosing this route can offer advantages regarding transit time and access to the Port of Rotterdam; however, the cost of the road toll should also be taken into account. ⚠️ Note on maintenance work
Dutch authorities have scheduled further temporary closures of the A24 for maintenance work in 2026. During these times, traffic is primarily rerouted via the A20, A4, and A15, and drivers should anticipate potential delays.
