France toll update: 2G network shutdown and new Alsace toll system in 2027

Transport companies travelling through France should prepare for two upcoming changes affecting toll payments and devices.

From 31 December 2026, France will shut down its 2G mobile network. From 1 January 2027, Alsace will introduce a satellite-based toll system for heavy goods vehicles (HGVs), with charges calculated according to the distance travelled.

What action do you need to take?

  • DKV BOX EUROPE with 2G technology: You must replace your device to continue using toll services in France.
  • DKV BOX TIS PL or SELECT users travelling through Alsace: You will need a toll solution compatible with the new distance-based charging system.
  • Other users not affected by these changes: No action is required at this time.
